    One of the newer subdivisions in Jesup, Emerald Acres has been built in three phases. Originally farmground, the Hershberger family subdivided the land to establish a new housing development in the late 1990's. The homes are a mix of ranch and two stories, typically with a price of $225,000 on up. A couple of interesting notes: although the city of Jesup is part of Buchanan county, Emerald Acres sits just south of Highway 939, making it part of Black Hawk County. In addition, this is the only city neighborhood that offers bus service for the Jesup Schools.
