I know we are all busy one way or another and just don't feel like we can add one more thing to our calendar. Please consider being a volunteer either at home or away for someone in need. You just can't imagine all the ways you can help. Here is a great website to look at. http://www.opendoormission.org/volunteer-holiday-opportunities/

How about downloading an app called TAGG (Together A Greater Good) that donates 5% of your sales from over 80 stores you shop at. You could purchase a coupon book that gives discounts from local restaurants. Take time to stop by four locations in the Omaha area to drop off diapers, toys, toiletries, clothes, coats, food items. There are so many simple ways to help out and you just didn't realize it. If you have some time, you could help with preparing and/or serve food, hang up winter clothing for the poor and needy, play and/or read to children, fill trucks with diapers, or sort toys to be delivered.

At the heart of Open Door Mission is its volunteers. You, your family, your co-workers or your church can help hungry and homeless men, women and children. Working hand in hand, members of the community can make a difference at Open Door Mission.

We had an awesome birthday party for our daughter at the Papillion YMCA. They handled everything in the party room and then the kids swam and had a great time.
  • There are plans to raise the fees when purchasing homes during the spring of 2014. A borrower with a 30 year fixed rate mortgage and a credit score of 735 with a 10% down payment will see their fees rise from approximately 0,75 to 2% of the loan amount.

Buyers with higher down payments will likely see an increase as well. Mortgage analysts predict the higher fees combined with rising interest rates could tighten mortgage credit in the new year, so don't wait.

We took our children to visit the Rosenblatt Park for the first time and it was great. With Rosenblatt Stadium being such a part of Omaha's history, I think many of us were a bit sad to see it go. But if you are on the way to the Henry Doorley Zoo, it is great to stop by and see this little park. There are seats from the stadium and the kids can run around the mini bases. The kids had a ball.
