    The Cedar Falls High School was the first high school in Cedar Falls that was separate from the other grades of K-9. It was originally located where the Cedar Falls Recreation Center is now at 12th and Main Street. The location of the school moved to Division Street in 1954. There have been many additions to the high school throughout the years. Cedar Falls is now in the beginning process of building the new high school that will be located near the UNI-Dome.

    The Cedar Falls Community School District has announced the building plan for the new high school. It will be located on 28th Street west of the UNI dome and will be approximately a 300,000 square foot building set on 65 acres. This is set to be completed in 2024.

    School is back so look out for the children. Especially when school starts back all the kids are excited and running around. Safety around cross walks, school buses and school zones is very important. So be safe out there.

    This will be the 10th year Cedar Falls High School has held their Annual Bake-Lemonade Stand for raising money for the American Cancer Society and Alive and Running Suicide Prevention. What a wonderful cause and how heartwarming it is to have high school students reach out to the community for supporting such great causes. Cancer and suicide all too often touch the lives of our young people whether it is them personally or a family or friend with cancer or suicide.

    Bess Streeter Aldrich Elementary School Nearing Completion
    The new elementary school located on the west edge of Cedar Falls is nearing completion. They are looking at opening this new school in the fall of 2018. This is exciting news as the school will have all of the latest in technology and teaching assistance and will go a long way in eliminating the over crowding in the other elementary schools throughout Cedar Falls.

    Winter Sport Season
    This is the time of year when the students start getting ready to change or start new sporting events here at the Cedar Falls High School and Cedar Falls Middle Schools. The sports that are starting are bowling, basketball, wrestling, and swimming. These are going on until February or March and I am looking forward to going and watching them.

    Amazing Schools in Cedar Falls School District
    Cedar Falls has some of the best schools in Iowa. It's a district that is advanced in technology; students in K-6th grade use iPads and Chromebooks daily and in grades 7-12 students get their own Chromebooks. The Cedar Falls School District is well over the national percent of proficient students in all areas tested (reading, math, science). In addition, the school district provides so many great opportunities for our kids, including clubs, athletics, and after school groups.
