    U.S. homebuilders are feeling more optimistic due to a recent rebound in the sentiment index to the highest point since March. The demand for new homes rose in September to the highest level since October of 2007. A nation wide supply crunch of existing homes, combined with blossoming consumer confidence due to a growing economy, solid job market and low unemployment rates fuels the latest increased demand.

    I recently went to a comedy show at Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Art Center, it was a fabulous show. The facility is clean and well managed and they are going through a renovation period which when open will house new concessions, restrooms and the ticket area. It hosts world renowned entertainment with shows that will wow you. I highly recommend trying one of their shows.

    I recently stopped at the Nook to see what it is all about. This is an amazing book store filled with so many great authors and fills your head with ideas. I walked around the enchanting store staring at all the fiction and non-fiction areas. Soon, I went to the Readers Cup which is conveniently connected to the Nook. I had to stop, buy myself a wonderful latte, grab a new book and find myself settled in to a cozy seat. I spent a good couple hours enjoying my coffee, reading my new book and people watching. It is something downtown Cedar Falls has needed for many years. What an amazing space where you can meet friends, relax and unwind!

    A great local sub sandwich shop by UNI with 36 sub combinations to order on homemade bread or in a bowl. I recommend the #25 with all the meat. Never a bad choice and you can customize your order.

    I recently visited Whiskey Road in Downtown Cedar Falls and had a great lunch. They have a seasonal menu that they often change up to add new and yummy choices. They have fresh salads, sandwiches, BBQ, seafood, and so much more. It is worth the stop.

    If you are looking for a good nature trail, head to Prairie Lake on the corner of Greenhill and Viking Road. It has a wide, eight-foot trail to walk, run, or bike with ease for passing and groups. Along the trail, you will see various shelters for picnicking, the lake for fishing, restrooms, and workout stations. Part of the trail goes along the industrial park, so you get to gaze at the architecture as you enjoy your journey. It is also a neat place to just hang out on a blanket and enjoy the day. I have seen several people running their remote-controlled boats and planes in this area as well. It's a fun spot, no matter what you are doing.

    Adventure out in the warm weather and head to Big Woods Lake recreation area. You can kayak, walk, run, or bike the trails, play disc golf, and so much more. It is a really neat area to have a picnic and watch nature happen as well!

    Recently I had a burger at Wilbo's Brats and Burgers, and it was amazing. So many choices of toppings, from fried mac and cheese and jalapenos to eight different kinds of cheeses and more. The staff is so nice as well. Check it out for a great dinner.

    We recently had dinner at the Other Place on Main Street, and they have the best pizza. It has a hand-tossed crust and is loaded with whatever toppings you like and a ton of cheese. The location offers whatever game is on their TVs and has a fun casual atmosphere. They also have live bands at different times. So fun to hang out there.

    A great location to stop after work for a cocktail is Stuffed Olive on Main Street. They have
    buy-one-get-one drink specials until 6:00 p.m. each night and their martinis are hand shaken and delicious. My favorite is the lemon trist martini, it's made with limoncello and is a sweet and refreshing drink. I highly recommend checking out their wide selection of beverages.

    When looking for a nice place to walk, bike, or just hang out, head to Big Woods Lake! The nature trails are always cleared for you to have a nice walk or run in the sunshine. They have a kayak dock where you can easily load your gear and launch into the lake. While on land or water be on the lookout for the neighborhood beaver family or geese meandering about. It is a great place to hang out and relax.

    Wilbo's Brats and Burgers on Main Street has, in my opinion, the best burgers in the Cedar Valley! They are fresh smashed burger patties with a ton of topping options. You can choose from some unique options like a fried egg, deep-fried mac and cheese, jalapenos, brie and so much more. Pair this with their homemade onion rings or chips and you have a delicious meal. It is so good.

    If you are looking for a meaty chicken wing, I suggest giving Pepper's Bar and Grill a try. We were there this week and I think they were the biggest chicken wings I've seen! On top of that, they were delicious! You have a choice of sauces to go with them including Pepper's own hot sauce or hot-honey BBQ sauce. They are served with their homemade blue cheese or ranch dressing and celery sticks to cool you off. So yummy!
