    Jesup is a small town bedroom community located in Western Buchanan County. I have lived here nearly my entire life and have decided to raise my children here as well. With approximately 2,500 residents, Jesup offers both a preschool through Grade 12 public school as well as a St. Athanasius School, serving preschool through Grade 8.

    Located just 20 minutes to Waterloo, 40 minutes to Cedar Rapids and located just off of Highway 20, Jesup is a convenient location for many commuters. The community has a mix of older homes as well as many new developments. Services also include many churches of different denominations, two gas stations, a grocery store, several bars and restaurants, golf course, shops, and numerous parks.

    St. Athanasius, or fondly referred to as St. A's, is the Catholic Church for the Jesup area community. Father Jeff Dole serves not only the St. A parish, but also St. Francis in Barclay. Located on Stevens Street, between Main and 6th, St., A is a member of the Archdiocese of Dubuque and offers Saturday evening mass at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. as well as a variety of weekday and Holy Day Masses. The school is part of the Jesup Public School System, therefore, buses transport students in the rural areas to and from school each day. Tuition is charged, however, if cost is not affordable to families, help may be found with the St. Athanasius Education Assistance Trust, or SEAT.
