    Beggar's Night
    The City of Carlisle participates in Beggar's Night, which is Trick or Treating the night before Halloween. Since we're not originally from here, I thought this was strange that people/communities do this but I have grown to appreciate it. This is a common theme for most communities across the Des Moines Metro.

    Halloween is a very busy holiday. I never really paid any attention to how busy it is until we had our daughter (now almost 4 yrs old). Today (Halloween) she had two parties. Where I'm from she would also leave her costume on and plan to go out and trick or treat. Finally, after it's all said and done, we need to fit supper time in there somewhere, bath time and then somehow she will have come down from the massive amount of sugar she just ingested and be ready to fall asleep at bed time.

    With that said, we've very much grown to appreciate this tradition and definitely look forward to it in the years to come.

    The community in Carlisle is very receptive of Beggar's Night and our neighbors and the city have always made it a fun and safe night for the kiddos - despite the weather some years. Yet another reason why this small community is a Natural Choice for you and your family.
