    Having grown up in the Elkhorn area I can speak first hand from experience that this is a great place to raise a family. Elkhorn has a small town feel to it, while being so close to the city for an easy commute. In fact, it has it's own little downtown that has been revitalized. The city has taken the historic buildings and cobbled streets and refinished this area with quaint little shops and restaurants with results of a mini Old Market for all to enjoy.

    One of the many things I love about this city is its school district. The Elkhorn school district continues to grow over 6% a year, yet maintains their small class room size ratio of 22 to 1. The students consistently score well above state and national averages on standardized assessments. This district has all the advantages of a big city while maintaining the qualities of small town.

    Elkhorn might be a small town but it reaches out to its community and provides much to do for families of all types. There are restaurants, playground areas, intimate shops and plenty of walking and biking opportunities. All this and just a short distance to all of your favorite shopping malls and medical facilities. Elkhorn is growing in size primarily due to new neighborhoods being created and the schools to support them. Elkhorn has some of the best views overlooking the Elkhorn Valley.

    When my children were getting ready to start school, my wife and I did our homework. We spoke with many parents. Not only did everyone have good things to say about Elkhorn schools, they raved about them! The enthusiasm was evident. We were sold. My son and daughter attended Skyline Elementary, then Valley View Junior High and are now both in Elkhorn South High School. The people are down to earth and friendly and the neighborhoods are nice and safe. We couldn't have made a better move.
