I had Rudy's Tacos the other day and they are always so good. My go-to lunch is the half mucho nacho, the whole taco is way too big for one person. They locally source their ingredients and always make it from scratch. Delicious and hot. I highly recommend trying them.

If you are in the Waterloo area and it's a hot day and you have young children with you, a local favorite place to stop by the river is at the splash pad. It is a wonderful little play area on a soft rubber surface that has a fountain that you can turn on that kids can run through and cool off on a sunny day. Look for it at 225 Commercial Street.

Palmer's Family Fun on West Airline Highway in Waterloo is a great place for family fun! My favorite activity is mini-golf, but there are plenty of other choices for kids of all ages as well as adults. Activities available include go-karts, batting cages, mini-golf, jumping pillow, driving range, archery tag, and laser tag. The jumping pillow is a great place to have a birthday party for the younger kiddos and laser/archery tag, batting cages, and/or go-karts are great for the older ones. What a great place to spend some time outdoors instead of being cooped up inside when the weather is nice!

Hole #9 at Irv Warren Golf Course (Byrnes Park) has been my favorite hole since I started golfing at the age of eight. It too has gone through some transformation but remains a very beautiful and challenging course in the Cedar Valley. Located on 4th Street and Fletcher in Waterloo. Go play today!

Gates Golf Course was one of the tougher courses in the Waterloo area back in the day. The ash bore bug has made Gates more forgiving, but it still remains a very challenging course. The friendly faces of the avid golfers that make their way out to play make it very easy to hook up with someone if you are by yourself!!

The Cedar Valley may have a lot of cornfields around, but we also do have some nice parks that offer up opportunities to swim, boat, and enjoy water activities as well as hiking, biking, camping, grilling, and other such fun. If you haven't visited yet, be sure to hop in the car and take a drive around to see what it offers and plan a time to get outside and enjoy some much-needed time in nature.

If you haven't been to Single Speed in Downtown Waterloo lately, they have a great new menu that offers eclectic items to dine on. In addition, they also have some new beers and your favorites on tap in their beer hall. It is COVID friendly as they have patrons spaced out accordingly. It is worth a trip and to check them out.
