    The Snowflake Express is an annual train ride in Waterloo with ticket funds benefiting the charity of Magical Mix Kids. The ride is typically a 45 minute ride beginning in Waterloo, stopping in Washburn then heading back to the starting location. Kids and adults are welcomed passengers upon the multi-car train that features a conductor, elves, Mrs. Claus and Santa! This event takes place one Saturday a year near the end of November or beginning of December.

Fall is a great time to visit Heartland Farms with their wide variety of activities including a pumpkin patch, giant jumping pillow, farm animals, hayrides, 30 ft. tree house, tube slide and of course Halloween attractions. The Halloween attractions include a haunted corn field, haunted barn and their premiere haunted house ‘The Heart of Darkness’.     I recently visited the John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum, 500 Westfield Ave, Waterloo, and it was a wonderful experience. It is filled with facts about what John Deere has done for our community for the past 100 years, facts about the company past and present, lots of displays of engine and tractors and lots of fun things for the kids to do. I highly recommend taking the time to see it.
