Carpetland is our go-to business for all of our flooring needs. Their products, service, and installation are top-notch. Carpetland has been a Waterloo staple for 52 years. They do hardwood, porcelain tile, mosaics for backsplashes, luxury vinyl, sheet vinyl, and of course...carpet. We recently purchased carpet and I was amazed that the two installers have worked side by side installing for Carpetland for over 25 years, they were amazing.

It was a cold night, but that didn't deter customers from standing in line outside for 15-30 minutes during Crumbl Cookie's Grand Opening on November 11th. The place was packed even at 9:00 p.m.! You could select from several delicious flavors on opening day, including Strawberry Cake, Classic Pink Sugar, Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake, Buckeye Brownie, Cookie Butter White Chip, and Milk Chocolate Chip. The flavors are rotated each week, so there is always something new to try, but the Milk Chocolate Chip and Classic Pink Sugar are almost always available. The large and decadent cookies will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth, and they are easy to find since they are in the same strip mall as Scratch Cupcakery in Waterloo.

If you enjoy watching a good play you need to stop over to the Waterloo Community Playhouse. They, along with the Black Hawk Children's Theatre have been entertaining people of all ages for over 90 years in the Cedar Valley. Many schools even take field trips to the theatre with their classes. Their amazing productions are completely volunteer-run. It was always a fun thing for me to take my kids to when they were young!

When I discovered Bambino's, I found some of the best cookies I have ever had! Light and flakey cookies covered with a sweet fluffy frosting...sooooo good! The owner of Bambino's, Donna O'Brien, is a fellow breast cancer survivor and donates some of her proceeds to helping folks fight this disease. How can you go wrong with enjoying a tasty treat and helping others in the process?

If you are ever in a pinch to have snow removed or your lawn mowed, give Maxon Properties a call. They are always friendly, timely and do a great job. I have used them several times on rental properties that need a little sprucing up! So easy to work with. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Everyone knows that Hansen's Dairy has great ice cream but at Moo Roo's on the corner of Kimball Ave and Ridgeway Ave you can get so much more. They offer cheese curds, Edgewood Locker meats, local produce, fresh baked bread and pastries, handmade crafts, and so much more. It is a little store in itself that has so much to offer and worth stopping and checking out.

If you are looking for an "off the beaten path" restaurant for a delicious lunch, head to Highway 63 Diner. They have an extensive menu filled with soup, endless salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizza, and so much more. They offer a daily lunch special that usually is amazing. Sometimes they even have meatloaf or prime rib sandwiches which are my favorite. I suggest you try them out.

If you are hungry, head to Newton's on the corner of 4th and Commercial and try out their Tenderloin. It is delicious and huge. Pair it with an order of truffles, and parmesan french fries and you have a dinner fit for a king. It is a fun atmosphere as well. They are open each day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is worth the trip.

The Cedar Valley Arboretum is a fantastic place in our community to learn about nature. It has been around for over 20 years and has shown both children and adults new things about nature. There are many different tours and class trips that come through the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens or you can just stop by and visit on your own. Our family always loved coming to see many different and beautiful plants throughout the year at the Arboretum

We recently went to El Patron Family Mexican restaurant for dinner and it was a delight! First off, their margaritas are delicious with a great variety of flavors, but their food is a sight to see! They come on a plate bigger than your head with delicious entrees featuring beef, chicken, mixed seafood, beans, and more. The staff is kind and attentive. So yummy, you should check it out!

Each year the Iowa Irish Fest is held the first weekend in August. This great celebration brings thousands of people from across the world to Downtown Waterloo to see spectacular talents from Ireland. It is a festival that has food, tastings, crafts, and four stages with many local and international bands. People wear their Irish green and kilts to add to the celebration. I highly recommend it.
