A "living war memorial" that was proposed on the old Dundee Golf Course was thought to be the first important step in the beautification of the Omaha of tomorrow. The 65-acre shrine in the nature of a park with interlacing drives and lush with shrubbery and flowers were offered and accepted by the City Council to become a living memorial to Douglas County men and women in the armed services.
